Holidays

A person can never do something 24 hours without rest. 

Hence, the 1 week semester break was a great opportunity for me to take a break from studies and do other things that I love.

This was just a little thing that helped me start the holiday week better.

Having people that is already successful acknowledging your drawings really helped boost my confidence greatly.

Holidays are meant to indulge with people you love and mean greatly. Even the simplest things feels blissful.

Or even a random supper with your mum and sister.

Also went to my niece's baby shower

Other than spending time with your loved ones and doing your favorite things, I think a fulfilling holiday is also one where you learn to upgrade yourself and do thing you never tried or isn't successful. For me, it's origami.

Hence, on the last day of the holiday week, it started my 4h battle with paper and uhu glue.

1. My name is Kok Yik Kuen (pronounced  as yik queen). Everyone gets it wrong on the first try. Almost everybody I guess.

2. I have one older brother that's a year older and one 4 years younger sister. Like all siblings, they are very annoying.

3. I love looking at the sea and sky. Looking at how big it is, it makes me realise how our problems are so small and helps me to relax when I am stressed or stuck.

 

 

4. I am an avid fan of Taylor swift since 5 years ago. When I was younger, I wasn't exposed to English music so much so I immediately fell in love with her songs. The first few songs I heard was white horse, love story, you belong with me etc. she has gone a long way to her newest song release 'Shake It Off'.

5. I have no idea if it was because of me entering an art school or that I changed to a phone with a better camera function, I started taking many photos of random things and edit it with this application called Vscocam. I really like the filters and it's easy to use. I then sometime insert inspiring words using pic arts as they have a variety of nice fonts.

 

6. I started showing interest in fashion design since 6 years ago. Inspired by my tuition friend, I drew little girls with weird proportions and random clothes haha. Last year, I finally learnt the proportion of a proper fashion illustration and I was so thrilled! I am still working on the many flaws but I did go a long way from six years ago!

7. I believe that hard work surpasses talent. If you put in double and triple the effort,you are sure to get visible results. Instead of lamenting that you have no talent in this, work doubly hard than normal people.

8. Food is Number One for me! I enjoy scouring for good and worth-the-money food in Singapore! 

9. I really enjoy creative thinking lessons, forcing us to think out the box through fun and games! I made a spaghetti tower, a futuristic hipster elmo, dressed as a monster to camouflage and went to SAM for the first time!
